California Fuel Cell Partnership Welcomes California Department of Food and Agriculture as a Member

Sacramento, Calif. – California Department of Food and Agriculture has joined the California Fuel Cell Partnership as an associate member.

As a member of the California Fuel Cell Partnership, CDFA will collaborate with other members to develop methods to measure and test hydrogen fuel as it is dispensed into vehicles. As with other fuels, CDFA will ensure the accuracy of commercial weighing and measuring devices, verify the quantity of fuel dispensed and enforce the quality, advertising and labeling standards for hydrogen fuel. “The California Department of Food and Agriculture shares CaFCP’s vision for a commercial hydrogen fuel cell vehicle industry,” said AG Kawamura, CDFA Secretary. “We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with CaFCP members to implement standards and measurements that will give consumers confidence in hydrogen fuel and dispensing equipment.”

CDFA’s Division of Measurement Standards works establishes standards for fuel quality and for accuracy in dispensing. County sealers of weights and measures perform tests and perform enforcement activities. DMS activities ensure fair competition for industry and accurate value comparison for consumers.

“CDFA expertise will augment CaFCP’s active role in advancing hydrogen fueling infrastructure,” said Catherine Dunwoody, executive director of CaFCP. “We look forward to working with CDFA to move California’s transportation systems to a cleaner, sustainable alternative using hydrogen and fuel cell vehicle technology.”
