National Hydrogen Association Awards California Fuel Cell Partnership’s
Executive Director for Meritorious Service
Sacramento, Calif. – The National Hydrogen Association recently presented its Meritorious
Service Award to Catherine Dunwoody, California Fuel Cell Partnership’s executive director.
The award recognizes her leadership and commitment to the advancement of hydrogen fuel
cell transportation over the past decade. Ms. Dunwoody was nominated by Proton Energy
Systems, a CaFCP associate member.
“Catherine Dunwoody’s leadership, passion, and significant personal contributions in the
promotion of hydrogen dramatically differentiate her from her peers as a beacon of respect and
high character,” said Mark Schiller of Proton Energy Systems, which designs and
manufactures electrolyzer systems that generate hydrogen from water. “Catherine has grown
the organization from a concept to a global leader in fuel cell vehicles and hydrogen fuel.”
Catherine Dunwoody became the executive director of the California Fuel Cell Partnership
when the organization began in 1999. Prior to CaFCP, Ms. Dunwoody managed clean air
projects for the California Air Resource Board for 14 years. She has been a pioneer in driving
forward a unique collaborative organization to advance fuel cell vehicles and hydrogen fuel.
CaFCP is a collaboration of 31 organizations including auto manufacturers, energy providers,
fuel cell technology companies and government agencies working together to promote the
commercialization of fuel cell vehicles.
The National Hydrogen Association is the nation’s premier hydrogen trade organization led by
more than 100 companies dedicated to supporting the transition to hydrogen. Programs are
focused on education and outreach, policy, safety, and codes and standards. Since 1989, the
NHA has served as a catalyst for information exchange and cooperative projects and continues
to provide the setting for mutual support among industry, research and government
organizations.
